Title: Towards AI-Based Precision Neurology

Neurodegenerative disorders (NDDs) are becoming more common, especially in low- and middle-income countries. Despite years of research, the mechanisms driving these diseases remain unclear, with some pathologies developing long before symptoms appear. Diagnosing NDDs often requires specialized centers, leading to varied symptom presentation and disease progression in patients.

In light of these challenges, data-driven decision support systems offer a promising path forward. These systems could enable earlier diagnosis, stratification, and monitoring of NDDs. In my talk, I will demonstrate how AI approaches can contribute to this, sharing examples from my work toward developing an AI-assisted digital twin. I’ll also discuss key challenges and future research, including efforts from the new EU graduate school, AI for Parkinson’s Disease (AIPD).
